Our Commitment
IIM Academy respects your rights regarding your privacy and information, taking great care with any personally identifying information. IIM is committed to complying with applicable legal obligations to safeguard and process personal data, extending this courtesy to all IIM users worldwide. This policy is based on obligations created through global data protection regulations, including the GDPR in the E.U. and the CCPA in the U.S.
Collection, Processing, and Storage of Data
IIM may collect and process personal data relating to past and present users and learners. Data is collected directly from user input and automated methods such as system logs, cookies, web beacons, and third-party service provider integrations. Processing includes collecting, recording, storing, altering, disclosing, destroying, and blocking data. This policy governs IIM’s approach to data and does not apply to third-party organizations integrated with the IIM platform.
Personally Identifiable Information (PII)
PII may be required to uniquely identify a user upon registration (e.g., personal email address) and additional information for purchases and certification requests. Users may create personal profiles including educational and work experience. Sharing this information is optional and can be controlled through privacy settings.
Personal data is stored within user accounts and access is restricted through encrypted networks and access permissions to ensure confidentiality and protection. No personal data is downloadable or removable from the platform by employees or third parties, and only authorized personnel have online access to user data.
Users may publicly post comments or interact with other users through the IIM platform (“Shared Content”). Public postings consent to granting IIM a non-exclusive right to reproduce, distribute, and otherwise use the shared content. IIM is not responsible for how others may use such publicly available information.
Course Information
After registration, users can enroll in courses offered by IIM or affiliated publishers. Aggregated data on age, gender, and country of origin is shared with publishers, ensuring no user-level information is accessible. IIM processes data relevant to the publication and playback of course content and user progress. This includes regular emails on user progress and course recommendations.
Third-Party Information Processors and Service Providers
User data is securely stored on third-party cloud-based storage. Payment processing and fulfillment partners receive necessary PII to enable transactions. Highly sensitive data, such as credit card information and passwords, are never received by IIM but are managed by chosen third-party payment providers.
IIM uses analytical tools and advertising services from providers like Google, Facebook, and Hotjar to measure user interactions and improve services. Cookies and tracking pixels are used for personalized advertising, with third-party service providers acting as independent data controllers.
Technical Data Collection
Web server log files, device information, and IP addresses are collected to understand traffic flows and user interactions. Cookies are used to track sessions, personalize services, and automate login processes. Web beacons monitor email communications for delivery and engagement analysis.
User Consent and Self-Service Control
By using IIM services and inputting your information, you consent to data collection and use. Users have access to their information through their accounts and can update, deactivate, or request removal of their personal data. Browser settings and mobile device privacy settings can control cookies and third-party services.
Children under 13, or under 16 in the E.U., should not register or use IIM services without supervision. IIM reserves the right to delete accounts created by children unable to give digital consent.
Retention of Data
IIM is legally obligated to retain certain data for specified periods. Aggregated and anonymized data may be used for business purposes after user accounts are deleted. Data retention is aligned with legal obligations, business interests, and compliance requirements.
Security and Disclosure of Data
IIM employs security measures to protect against unauthorized access, including encryption, access limitations, and pseudonymization. Customer support employees have restricted access to user data, and breaches of data protection principles may lead to disciplinary action.
In the event of a data breach, affected individuals will be notified, and the incident reported to relevant data protection authorities.
Data Protection Officers
IIM’s directors are responsible for user data and have appointed a Data Protection Officer (DPO) to monitor compliance with data protection legislation. Queries can be directed to dpo@iim.academy
Access Requests
Users may request access, update, delete, or correct their personal data through their IIM accounts or by contacting customer support. IIM reserves the right to charge for processing subject access requests and aims to provide data within one month, extendable by two months if necessary.
Right to Object
Users can object to data processing causing distress or inaccuracies. Valid objections will result in ceasing data processing unless legally justified. Objections should be submitted in writing to the DPO.
International Transmission of Data
IIM operates globally, requiring data transfer across state boundaries. Transfers ensure equal data protection and are only made to companies guaranteeing similar protection levels. For more information, contact the DPO.
Policy Review and Modification
IIM conducts periodic reviews of this policy to reflect legal changes and practical experience. Updates will be posted on the website and notified to users via email. Continued use of IIM services implies acceptance of the updated policy.
